Key Highlights

  • The worker profiles on economy.id have been refreshed to incorporate the latest insights from the 2016 Australian Census, offering a comprehensive view of the workforce in your local area.
  • These profiles provide in-depth information on various aspects of the local workforce, including age distribution, occupational sectors, educational qualifications, and modes of transport to work.
  • Due to methodological changes in the 2016 Census, particularly the imputation of work destinations for respondents who didn't specify them, direct comparisons with 2011 data are not recommended. Efforts are underway to source comparable 2011 data for future analysis.
  • The updated worker profiles serve as a valuable resource for local governments, economic developers, and planners, facilitating informed decisions on employment strategies, infrastructure development, and community services.

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes, and now we’re excited to let you know that the Worker profiles on economy.id have now been updated with 2016 Census data. These profiles are a great source of information on the people that work in your local area. Their age structure, occupations, qualifications and mode of transport to work are all covered.

Also, a friendly reminder that currently only 2016 data are available for work destination. 2011 data are not comparable due to a change in methodology in 2016 which “imputed” a work destination to those workers who didn’t state their work destination. This means comparisons with earlier years should not be made. .id are currently sourcing data collected under the same methodology in 2011 which will be added to this page at a later date.
